The MG4 is the best-driving car in our electric fleet and it is not particularly close. Alone among affordable EVs it is rear-wheel drive with a properly engineered chassis and near-perfect weight distribution, which makes it genuinely enjoyable rather than merely competent. A 51 kWh battery gives around 320 km of real island range and it charges quickly for the price.

Any minor damage is deducted from the deposit and the balance returned. We photograph every panel, the interior, the fuel or charge level and the odometer at handover, and you get those timestamped photos with your digital contract - so there is a record to compare against rather than an argument.
Anyone who enjoys driving and does not want to spend Tesla money, couples, and renters who will be spending time on the island's winding interior roads rather than just the coastal strip.
Samui has better driving roads than most people expect - the climbs and switchbacks between the ring road and the interior viewpoints are genuinely entertaining, and the MG4 is the car in our fleet that makes the most of them. Rear-wheel drive and a low battery-in-the-floor centre of gravity mean it stays flat and composed where taller EVs lean. It is also 4.3 metres long, so it still parks easily in Chaweng.
MG engineered it that way deliberately, with the motor at the back and near 50:50 weight distribution. It makes the car considerably better balanced and more enjoyable to drive than its front-wheel-drive rivals, at no practical cost on Koh Samui's roads.
The Dolphin is cheaper and slightly better equipped inside. The MG4 has a bigger battery, charges faster, and is a much better car to drive. If you will spend time on the interior roads, the extra ฿150 a day is easily worth it.
About 35 minutes from 10 to 80 per cent on a public DC charger, or roughly 7.5 hours on a 7 kW wallbox overnight.
