About the Nissan Leaf
The Nissan Leaf was the car that made electric driving ordinary, and it remains a comfortable, well-sorted hatchback with one significant caveat: it uses the older CHAdeMO fast-charging standard rather than the CCS2 connector that everything else in our fleet uses. Its e-Pedal system allows genuine one-pedal driving, lifting off to slow and stop without touching the brake.

What is included
- Comprehensive first-class insurance with Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) is included with every rental - there is no separate insurance upsell at handover.
- Minimum rental period is 3 days.
- A refundable security deposit of ฿5,000 covers the insurance excess. It is returned in full if it is not used.
- Delivery and collection anywhere on Koh Samui - your hotel, villa or the airport - are included in the rate.
Any minor damage is deducted from the deposit and the balance returned. We photograph every panel, the interior, the fuel or charge level and the odometer at handover, and you get those timestamped photos with your digital contract - so there is a record to compare against rather than an argument.
Who the Nissan Leaf suits
Renters staying somewhere with a wallbox or a 3-pin outlet, who will charge overnight and never need a public fast charger. Under those conditions it is a comfortable and well-equipped car at a low rate.
The Nissan Leaf on Koh Samui roads
The charging standard is the deciding factor here, so be clear-eyed about it. CHAdeMO connectors are being phased out across Thailand in favour of CCS2, and the ones remaining on Samui are limited. If your accommodation has any kind of charging, this is a non-issue - you plug in overnight and wake up full, and 240 km covers several days of island driving. If you are relying on public fast chargers, choose a CCS2 car instead. The e-Pedal, meanwhile, is genuinely pleasant on Samui's hill descents.

What is CHAdeMO and why does it matter on Koh Samui?
It is the older DC fast-charging standard, used by the Leaf but not by newer EVs, which use CCS2. Thailand is standardising on CCS2 and CHAdeMO chargers are becoming scarce. If you can charge at your hotel or villa the Leaf is a fine choice; if you need public fast charging, take a CCS2 car such as the BYD Dolphin or MG4.
What is e-Pedal?
One-pedal driving - lifting off the accelerator slows the car firmly and brings it to a stop without using the brake pedal. It is genuinely relaxing in traffic and very useful on Samui's long hill descents, where it also recovers charge.
Is 240 km of range enough for Koh Samui?
Comfortably. The ring road is 51 km, and a heavy day of sightseeing rarely exceeds 90 km. The question is not range, it is where you plug in.
