About the Tesla Model 3

The Tesla Model 3 is the most requested electric car we rent and the one people book by name. A 60 kWh LFP battery gives around 420 km of real island range, DC charging is the fastest and most reliable of anything here, and the software - navigation, over-the-air updates, the app that lets you pre-cool the cabin before you walk out of the hotel - is still ahead of the field. There is a front boot as well as a rear one.

What is included

  • Comprehensive first-class insurance with Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) is included with every rental - there is no separate insurance upsell at handover.
  • Minimum rental period is 3 days.
  • A refundable security deposit of ฿7,000 covers the insurance excess. It is returned in full if it is not used.
  • Delivery and collection anywhere on Koh Samui - your hotel, villa or the airport - are included in the rate.

Any minor damage is deducted from the deposit and the balance returned. We photograph every panel, the interior, the fuel or charge level and the odometer at handover, and you get those timestamped photos with your digital contract - so there is a record to compare against rather than an argument.

Who the Tesla Model 3 suits

Visitors who want a genuinely impressive car rather than just cheap transport, couples on longer stays, and anyone nervous about EV charging who wants the most robust charging setup available.

The Tesla Model 3 on Koh Samui roads

Pre-cooling from the app is the feature you will use most on Samui. A car left in the sun at Chaweng reaches genuinely unpleasant temperatures, and being able to start the air conditioning five minutes before you reach the car park changes the experience. The 420 km range covers well over a week of typical island driving. The one thing to know: the Model 3 sits low, so steep unsealed villa driveways need care - take a Model Y if your accommodation is up a rough climb.

Tesla Model 3 rental - frequently asked questions

Can I rent a Tesla on Koh Samui?

Yes - we rent the Model 3 sedan and the Model Y SUV, from ฿1,500 and ฿1,700 a day respectively in low season. Both are delivered charged to your hotel, villa or the airport.

Are there Tesla Superchargers on Koh Samui?

Supercharger coverage in Thailand is concentrated on the mainland rather than the island, but the Model 3 uses the CCS2 standard, so it charges on the same public networks as every other EV here - PEA VOLTA, EA Anywhere and PTT EV Station PluZ. With 420 km of range on a 51 km island, most renters charge at their accommodation and never visit a public charger.

Do I need to know anything special to drive a Tesla?

Not much. There is no start button and no gear lever in the usual place, and almost everything runs through the central screen. We walk you through it at handover, and it takes about five minutes.
