Honda BR-V
- 7 seats
Seven seats plus real ground clearance, for groups who need both. These are body-on-frame or raised SUVs built for Thai roads, and they are the default choice for larger families and for groups who would rather share one vehicle than split across several.
Prices shown are the average day rate, from ฿1,300 in low season. Open a model for its full day, week and month rates, deposit and specification.
Seven seatbelts - and with all seven in use, the boot is a shallow shelf that takes soft bags, not suitcases. Seven people with seven cases is realistically a two-car booking, or a five-seat booking with the third row folded flat, which is what most groups end up doing. The Toyota Fortuner, Isuzu MU-X and Ford Everest keep the most space behind a folded third row. We would rather you knew that here than discovered it in the car park at handover.
Right for six or seven travellers, for families with grandparents along who need an easy seat height rather than a low one, and for anyone taking the vehicle ferry to the mainland for Khao Sok or Krabi. Also worth it for a family of five who want the third row folded flat and the whole load bay for luggage, prams and beach kit.
The upside is that these are the most capable vehicles we rent for the mainland ferry run to Don Sak and the drive on to Khao Sok, where you will be on real highways for two hours in each direction, and the most relaxed on the steep interior climbs. The downside is size: these are five-metre vehicles, so Chaweng Beach Road, the smaller restaurant car parks and the tighter villa gates all take more care than they would in a crossover. Tell us at booking if you are crossing to the mainland so the paperwork and insurance cover the trip, and so we can brief you on the ferry loading ramps, which are steep enough to matter.
The Honda BR-V is the smallest, cheapest and most car-like - the best of these for someone who mostly wants five seats and occasional extra capacity. The Toyota Fortuner is the island default: tough, ubiquitous, easy to get serviced anywhere. The Isuzu MU-X and Ford Everest are the most comfortable long-distance choices, with the Everest the most refined and the most expensive. The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport sits between them on price. Deposits in this class run higher than in the smaller categories because the vehicles are worth more; each model page states the exact figure, and it is refunded within three bank days of a clean return.

The long version, including the licence and International Driving Permit requirement, is on the hub: what the rate includes, how the return and deposit refund work and what happens after a breakdown or an accident.
